[**Back to the Order Build Overview**](https://vestigohelp.mccreadiegroup.com/en/knowledgebase/protocol-order-build-overview?hsLang=en)   The route, blinding, and instruction settings help define how information is presented during the dispensing process and on dispensing labels. These options allow sites to configure administration details, protect blinded studies, and provide standardized directions, special instructions, and accountability documentation. Proper use of these settings can improve consistency, support protocol compliance, and ensure pharmacy staff have the information needed at the time of dispense. ![](https://vestigohelp.mccreadiegroup.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-01-2026-03-27-38-9271-PM.png?width=670&height=414&name=image-png-Oct-01-2026-03-27-38-9271-PM.png)   ### Required permissions **ProtocolSnapshot** - Ability to view the Summary page of a Protocol (Protocol Snapshot). Required for all other protocol view permissions. **ProtocolManagement** - Protocol Management **EditProtocolDrugsOrders** - Drug management for a protocol     ### Route The route of the order. The selection here is defaulted during dispensing but can be modified during dispensing. Route selections populate based on the approved [Routes of Administration](https://www.fda.gov/drugs/data-standards-manual-monographs/route-administration) from the FDA. **Note** - Edits to the Route do not impact historical prescriptions where the order was used.   ### Order Blinding Settings Users can blind the quantity or lot numbers on labels. If your dispensing labels include the calculated quantity or lot numbers and there are differences between one drug and another, you can blind the values on the labels to maintain the blind. These settings do require some label modifications. If these settings are checked and you are still seeing the lot or quantity on the label, please open a ticket with support using the Contact Us for Support at the top of the page. **Note** - Edits to the blinding do not impact historical prescriptions where the order was used.   ### Directions The default directions or sig for the label.  If you have templates built, you can use the drop down to populate. The max number of characters in this field is 500 characters. Sites will need to determine if or how they want to use this field. If you have templates built, you can use the drop down to populate. The max number of characters in this field is 500 characters. If you have templates built, you can use the drop down to populate.
