[Inventory Returns](https://vestigohelp.mccreadiegroup.com/en/knowledgebase/inventory?hsLang=en#inventory-returns) September 25, 2026 # Deleting a Return Action on Inventory in Returns ## Learn how to remove a drug return action, understand which follow-up actions are also affected, and keep your audit trail and DARF accurate. Deleting a return action will remove all subsequent actions after the deleted return. Deleting a return in its entirety also deletes any actions taken after the return was recorded, such as destruction or return to sponsor. IDS Returns Actions can be Destruction, Witness of Destruction, Return to Sponsor, and Witness Return to Sponsor. Verify Return Actions can be Authorize Destruction, Cosign Destruction, Authorize Return to Sponsor, Cosign Return to Sponsor. **Caution -** Return action modifications are visible on the DARF and on the protocol Audit Trail. Once a IDS Return action has been deleted or modified, all subsequent Verify Actions cannot be readded by IDS users. 1. Navigate to the Protocol 2. Click on **Inventory tab** 3. Click on **Manage Drug Returns** **Tip** - If the return was already recorded as destroyed or sent back to the sponsor, you will need to toggle to Return to Sponsor/Destruction 4. For each entry you want to remove the Destruction or Return to Sponsor, you will click on the **date** on the left side **Tip** - If inventory was itemized or multiple inventories were recorded, you may need to delete actions associated with multiple returns. 5. Scroll down to see all actions recorded against that return line item. **Tip** - If the destruction or return to sponsor must be put back on the return, please be sure to take a screen shot of the details prior to deleting so you can put it back on the return after the edit. 6. Click **Delete** on the bottom right side by the action you wish to remove. 7. Enter a short reason for the modification. This is visible in the audit trail. 8. Click on the **Save** button 9. Readd any follow up actions as needed.
