[Competencies](https://vestigohelp.mccreadiegroup.com/en/knowledgebase/competencies?hsLang=en) October 12, 2026 # Competency User Access And Notifications ## Learn how competency requirements apply to different user types, how to send reminder emails, where users can view incomplete competencies, and how competencies affect access throughout Vestigo. #### **Protocol-Specific Users vs. Vestigo User Roles** Competency restrictions will apply only to Vestigo Users. Protocol-Specific Users who are assigned as contacts on a protocol are not subject to competency requirements because access is Read-Only though the Vestigo Verify platform. For non-pharmacy personnel or non-IDS personnel requiring access to the protocol at the individual level, consider using the Protocol-Specific User role.   #### Sending Competency Reminder Emails Sites can set up reminder emails for each competency on a protocol. Reminder emails are sent to users in the selected roles who have not completed the competency. To configure an email, select **Send Reminders** for the competency. The link walks the user through selecting the applicable roles and setting up the email.  ![](https://vestigohelp.mccreadiegroup.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-02-2026-03-26-08-2538-PM.png?width=670&height=250&name=image-png-Oct-02-2026-03-26-08-2538-PM.png) The standard email notification includes: - The protocol associated with the competency - The competency title - Instructions for accessing incomplete competencies from the **Protocol Operations** alert panel or directly from the protocol Sites can also add **Notification Notes** to the email. Reminder history can be reviewed by selecting **View Reminder History**.  #### Viewing Expired or Incomplete Competencies Users can identify competencies they need to complete by selecting the **Expired or Incomplete Competency** alert from the **Protocol Operations** tab on the Alert Panel. The alert identifies protocols with expired competencies and competencies that are required but have not been completed. Selecting the alert allows the user to access the applicable competency requirements. ![](https://vestigohelp.mccreadiegroup.com/hs-fs/hubfs/image-png-Oct-02-2026-03-28-52-5027-PM.png?width=670&height=183&name=image-png-Oct-02-2026-03-28-52-5027-PM.png) #### How Competencies Affect Access in Vestigo The effect of a competency requirement depends on the area of Vestigo the user is accessing and the restriction assigned to the competency. ##### Alerts and Prescription Access The competency logic applied to an alert depends on the link selected. For example, verification and second-verification alerts include links for the **MRN** and **Rx Number**: - Selecting the **MRN** opens the Patient Profile. Users can verify protocols based on the competencies they have completed. If a competency must be completed, the **Rx Details** and **Edit Rx** links are disabled. - Selecting the **Rx Number** opens the protocol’s main screen, where the user is presented with any competencies requiring completion. - Selecting the protocol link from the Patient Profile also opens the protocol’s main screen and presents any outstanding competency requirements. ##### Billing Management Users can perform most billing-related functions regardless of competency status. However, if a user selects a protocol link from the **Account Management** page, the applicable competency requirements are enforced when the user enters the protocol.  ##### Inventory Management Users can access Inventory Management functions regardless of competency status, except **Send Out Inventory (Multiple Protocols)**. Users cannot select inventory from protocols for which they have an incomplete competency requirement or a **No Access** restriction.  ##### Protocol Management and Reports Users can access Protocol Management and generate reports regardless of competency status. ##### Monitor Visits Users can schedule monitor visits and manage monitor access across protocols regardless of competency status through: - **Protocol Management \> Monitor Visits** - **Monitor Action Items** alerts - **Monitor Visit Requests** on the calendar ##### Calendar Users can access the calendar regardless of competency status. However, selecting **Patient Visit** applies the protocol’s competency requirements and may prevent the user from processing the prescription. Selecting **Patient Profile** opens the applicable patient record, where available links remain subject to the competency requirements assigned to each protocol.  #### Viewing Competencies in My Account Users can view competency-related information by opening **My Account** from the **Main** menu in the upper-right corner of Vestigo. Competency details are displayed under **My Competencies, Training and InServices**.
